Hello Anons
Lately, I have been tweeting less to try and bunker down a little more on the Authority Site I am building. For those that are new here, I am Grappler and I am focused on building Grapplers Graveyard an authority site that will be home to grappling, MMA, fitness, and recovery content.
Eventually, I see this turning into a full-blown e-commerce store but really, its one thing at a time for me. I currently sell hand-made soaps that can be directly bought at my shop, if you haven’t tried them out yet go grab a bar or two!
Right now I am most focused on driving traffic to the site, getting ranked higher on Google by building more topical authority, and getting high-quality backlinks to my site.
I like to do these updates and look back at them for my own selfish purposes because it reminds me how far I have come. It is very easy to lose track of progress when you are seeing a bunch of ballers around you smash it out of the park. The only thing you ca really control at the end of the day is you, so, you should also only be comparing yourself to an early version of yourself.
I hope the insights I talk about here are helpful to you in some way.
This was my last update post: 11 Months in the Jungle
Lately, I have been battling a lot with doubt and thinking what I am doing is not enough to make this my full-time income, even when I really don’t think that is the case. I looked back at the last update I gave and started to compare those stats to where I am now and a sense of relief overcame me.
I am actually moving the needle and it feels good.
I think this is something that I have always struggled with personally. Comparison to other people is truly the thief of joy in the moment. We lose a sense of gratitude when we do not appreciate what has already come our way and I think this whole process is the universe telling me the greater lesson at play here.
Do not compare yourself with someone who is at level 50 when you are still at level 5. It will rob of you of the progress you have made.
Now that I am off the soap box, I want to place my 14-month recap here so that in another 3 - 6 months I can write one of these again!
GG Search Console Stats
In the last three months, I have seen impressions fall and move sideways. I am not exactly sure why because as you will see later, the rankings on Ahrefs are moving. Something that I have been REALLY focusing my time, energy, and effort on is topical authority. I have been focused on writing only one topic till I rank on page one for all the keywords in that silo.
Since I have been doing that, the clicks and CTR have been gradually going up. Right now, I writing some of the best content I have ever written for Grapplers Graveyard. With the majority of my best work being less than a couple of months old I am projecting that rankings only increase going into the holiday season and hopefully see impressions increase as we gear toward the high school wrestling season.
Ahrefs Stats
What I am most excited about here is that since the last update, my Domain Rating went from 16 to 26! Love to see that. I am trying out a new link-building strategy that I heard from Matt Diggity, so hopefully I can land some solid backlinks from credible sites.
In June, my organic traffic spiked up to 900 and then randomly got cut by a third which sucked. Right around that time is when impressions started to slide down as well. We are slowly climbing back up and will break 1,000 visitors in no time! Organic keywords explode in the three months since the last update, going from 925 to 2,200.
Things I am Testing
I am building out a Pinterest account and am starting to get some great traction there. Just like traffic from Google, Pinterest Traffic is Evergreen, meaning that it holds steady and can be a recurring source for you if built out. I highly suggest you build out on Pinterest alongside writing for your blog.
I have a growing email list that is just sitting there for Grapplers Graveyard. I have not really dove into email marketing which is a mistake on my end.
My Instagram account is sitting at good levels. What you will notice is the icons with scrollable archived stories. The last month I have been making still graphics to link people to blog content I have on my site and saw a huge amount of traffic come in during the month of July. Having to juggle all these social platforms is exhausting but nonetheless a part of the process. I will continue to make these graphics and maybe even dabble in some videos.
I hope you enjoyed this update of what is going on in wifi world for me. Grapplers Graveyard is not the only site I plan on owning, I have a desire to build multiple and I want to take you along the ride for the ones that I decide to run as an anon on the web.
I have a wealth of knowledge on a number of topics that I think could add tons of value to you and others around the world and I know I would get nowhere without the support I get from the jungle. Nothing I have in my head works out unless I bunker down and make Grapplers Graveyard work first!
If anyone is new and wants to chat about Wifi money or just toss ideas around, feel free to dm me. Many of you have reached out and I am happy to share the things I have learned along the way.
So I've started an instagram theme page that isn't doing great yet but its slowly growing. With that I'm also planning on building out a website to have bigger content like blogs, articles, and how-tos. So in a way I'm following your playbook and really enjoy hearing your updates. Look forward to the new ones and good luck!
